Bognor Regis Wellbeing Walk

Thank you for everyone that attended our second Wellbeing Walk of the series on 1st October.

Held on the flat promenade footpath in Bognor Regis, nearly 40 participants, including eight blind and sight impaired some of whom were supported by a team of sighted guides, enjoyed either the two, four or six mile routes. Walkers were fortunate to enjoy a glorious sunny day and took in breath-taking views out across the blue horizon. Our amazing participants have raised £850 so far, with more sponsorship money still to come in.

This was the second of three Wellbeing Walks planned for the year and everyone is invited to sign up for the last: the final event will visit the historic Horsham Town Centre on 18 March 2023. The total from the first two Walks has reached £2,100 to date.

The wellbeing theme was reflected along the Walk with tactile boxes for people to put their hands in to guess the mystery items inside, a ‘Seaside Songs’ game which many enjoyed a little dance along to too, a seaside tasting experience and messages encouraging people to ‘take notice’ of their surroundings, smell, and sounds. Those that participated commented on how much they appreciated the activities provided.

John Barrett, the Mayor of Bognor Regis, took part in the Walk with his partner Mayoress Carole Brett who commented, “What a beautiful day it was on Saturday, another fun group enjoying the sunshine with a walk by the sea.  We were so pleased to be able to support the fundraising efforts for such a worthy cause once again.”

The Fundraising Team would like to thank Arun District Council for allowing the Wellbeing Walk, and thanks also go to sponsors for donations of refreshments including Morrison’s, Wick; Waitrose, Chichester; the Waverley, Bognor Regis and Southdowns Water.
