Anthony Walks for Peggy!

Anthony Gillings, age 97,  is taking on a nearly 5 mile walk from Shoreham beach to Worthing pier on Friday 2nd June in memory of partner and love of his life Peggy.

Peggy lived with dementia for many years as well as loosing her sight during this time.

“She was in the dark and at the same time didn’t know where she was or able to recognise people because of her sight loss and loosing her memory – it felt like a double blow”. Anthony explained.

Peggy was a client and volunteer of 4Sight Vision Support and also supported us in many fundraising activities.

As a local organisation we were able to support both Peggy and Anthony during these tough years through visits, assessments and daily living aids. Helping Peggy stay in her beloved home, for as long as she could, and remain independent. Peggy also attended some of our local activities over the years where she was able to meet others in similar situations to relive some of the loneliness she felt.

I am lucky that at 97 I can still walk and I would therefore like to thank 4Sight Vision Support through raising much needed funds to help others, by walking from  Riverside Road, Shoreham Beach to the Ardington Hotel in Worthing …nearly five miles , on the 2nd June at 11am. At my age this will take me a few hours. Please support the fantastic work 4Sight undertake by sponsoring me for the walk .

We would love you to join us as we wave Anthony off, encourage him along the way and welcome him at his finish line. Please contact us for timings along his route and to find out how you can join our cheer stations.
