National Eye Health Week Highlights the Importance of Regular Checks

Regular eye health checks are important for detecting changes to the eyes, which may result in the prescribing of spectacles to protect and optimise our vision: however, checks are also vital in detecting signs of serious eye conditions, including glaucoma. Many conditions can be treated if found early enough, preventing unnecessary further damage to the eyes, and leading to better outcomes for vision protection and management. And of course, regular eye health checks can identify other issues such as diabetes or high blood pressure.

National Eye Health Week (NEHW) from 21-27 September is the ideal time to make sure our checks are up to date. 4Sight Vision Support (4SVS) is once again proud to support NEHW: sight is the sense people fear losing the most, yet many of us don’t know how to look after our eyes. National Eye Health Week aims to change all that with an awareness-raising campaign promoting good eye health for all, and highlighting how lifestyle choices like diet, exercise and screen time affect your vision and can help you make better decisions.
