Sight Care Advisor Mandy – A Fond Farewell

After 21 years of working for 4Sight Vision Support Mandy Whitman, our Senior Sight Care Advisor, has decided it’s time to retire.

I trained as a nurse initially and have worked within ophthalmology for most of the last 40 years, working for the NHS in the eye ward, the eye operating theatre and the eye clinic before being employed by 4Sight Vision Support and continuing my work in the eye clinic as a Sight Care Advisor (SCA), supporting visually impaired people (VIP) at the point of diagnosis and beyond.

We are very proud that our service was one of the first in the country to be developed and over the years it has evolved into a gold standard service providing knowledgeable and accessible advice and support for people struggling with sight loss.

My role as an SCA has meant that I have come across many of you through your visits to the eye clinics at Worthing, Southlands and St Richard’s Hospitals and I have had continued contact with some of you over the years when advice or information has been sought.

Working in the eye clinics has been the most rewarding work because we are able to offer practical and emotional support and ultimately hope in what can be a very difficult and stressful time.

I know that Annie Taylor & Jan Wise will continue to provide a dedicated and professional service
